Dining table size guide

Choose a size that seats everyone comfortably and leaves room to pull chairs out and walk around. Three quick checks:

1. Seating

Allow about 60 cm of table edge per person. Actual capacity depends on your chairs and where the base sits.

2. Space around the table

  • 90 cm from the table edge to a wall or furniture is the minimum to sit down and push a chair back.
  • 110–120 cm if people walk behind the chairs, e.g. a route to the kitchen.
  • 45–60 cm on a side that sits against a wall and isn't used for seating.

3. Minimum room size

90 cm or 100 cm deep?

90 cm suits narrower rooms. 100 cm gives more space between opposite place settings and room for serving dishes down the middle. All our dining tables are 76 cm high.

Mark the table's outline on the floor with masking tape, set a chair at each side and walk around it. It's the easiest way to be sure before you order.

Wipe the table with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Clean spills quickly, especially wine, coffee, oil, vinegar and citrus drinks.
Do not use bleach, abrasive cleaners, strong chemicals or rough cleaning pads. Use coasters, placemats and heat-resistant mats to help protect the surface.
Avoid dragging heavy or sharp objects across the tabletop. A suitable natural-stone sealer can be used when required, following the product instructions.

What is the Theo Sculpted Pedestal Marble Dining Table made from?
It is made from genuine natural travertine marble. Each slab has its own markings, texture and colour variation, so every table will be slightly different.
Which colours are available for this dining table?
The table is available in Red Travertine, Silver Travertine and Beige Travertine. The exact tone and natural markings will vary from one piece of stone to another.
What shape is the Theo Dining Table?
The table has an oval top with rounded ends. This gives you a large dining surface without sharp corners.
What is a sculpted pedestal base?
A sculpted pedestal has a shaped profile rather than straight sides. On the Theo table, the base narrows through the centre and widens towards the top and bottom.
Why does the table have a central pedestal base?
The single base supports the tabletop from the centre and keeps the outer edge free from standard table legs. This gives more flexibility when arranging dining chairs.
Why might my table look different from the product image?
Travertine is a natural material, so differences in colour, markings and texture are expected. These variations are part of the stone and are not manufacturing faults.
How should I clean the table?
Use a soft cloth with a small amount of water or a cleaner made for natural stone. Dry the surface afterwards and avoid acidic or abrasive cleaning products.
Are small pits and natural marks normal in travertine?
Yes. Small pits, lines and changes in texture are normal features of natural travertine and are not considered defects.
Can I put hot dishes directly on the table?
It is better to use a trivet or heat-resistant mat under hot dishes. This helps protect the stone surface and its finish.
